Each puzzle is a tiny crossword with the vowels missing. Put them back.

1. Pick a vowel Tap any vowel stack at the bottom — A, E, I, O or U.
2. Drop it in Tap a yellow-outlined slot to place it.
3. Make real words Every run across and down must spell a real 5-letter word.
4. Changed your mind? Tap a placed vowel to send it back to its stack.

Sometimes there’s more than one way to be right.

Every day at 3 am your local time, not midnight. It follows your device’s time zone. If you’re still up at 1 am, you’re on the previous day’s puzzle, and it still counts.

• Solve the day’s puzzle before 3 am (your time) to keep your streak going.
• Play 5 days in a row to earn a streak freeze. You can hold up to 2 at a time.
• Miss a day and a freeze is used for you automatically. Your streak carries on.
• Miss a day with no freezes left and your streak goes back to 0.
• Milestones you’ve reached are yours forever.

Settings → How streaks work has the same rules in the app.

Sorry about that. We can usually fix it.

1. Open Settings → Support ID and tap Copy.
2. Email it to hello@vowelplay.app, with roughly when things went wrong.

Your Support ID lets us look up your games and restore your streak.

Yes. Open the Archive to play any past puzzle. It’s free. Solve every puzzle in a month to unlock that month’s trophy.

VowelPlay never reveals letters for you. The solve is yours.

If you’re stuck, open the dictionary: it lists all 2,294 five-letter words the game knows, so you can check whether a word is real. After a while in a puzzle, a little “Stuck?” tip points you to it. Don’t want the nudge? Turn off Hint offers in Settings.

• Home Screen: small, medium and large.
• Lock Screen widgets too.
• Control Center: “Play today” and “Archive” controls.

Add them the usual way: touch and hold your Home Screen, Lock Screen or Control Center, edit it, and search for VowelPlay.

Yes. With iCloud on, your stats, history and streak sync between your devices. A puzzle you start on one device can be picked up where you left off on the other.

All in Settings:

• Appearance: System, Light or Dark.
• Haptics: on or off.
• Stay tuned: a daily reminder notification. It’s off until you turn it on, and it’s scheduled on your device.

Deleting the app removes the progress, streaks and settings stored on your device. To delete your game records from our server, copy your Support ID (Settings → Support ID → Copy) and email it to hello@vowelplay.app. The privacy policy has the details.
